EXISTING CONDITIONS
The Ridgefield Police and Fire Departments are currently housed in facilities that were built over a century ago. These outdated buildings lack modern technology, require constant repairs and maintenance, and are not ADA-accessible.
One of the primary issues with our antiquated buildings is an inability to accommodate modern technology efficiently, which can lead to communication delays, equipment malfunctions, and overall slower response times during emergencies. Neither headquarters building is fully ADA accessible, as is common with century-old buildings. The safety hazards from the outdated utilities and building structures also potentially compromise the health and well-being of our First Responders. In addition, the need for constant repairs and the maintenance necessary to keep these old buildings functional poses a significant financial burden to the Town. The need for new facilities is undeniable.
